What I’m Working On
Letters To Pushkin
Coping with the loss of a loved one is hard. This project was started at the loss of our beloved beagle, Pushkin, as a place of comfort and healing to be found through the process of letter-writing. When Pushkin passed, my wife Sharon, write 47 letters to him to help work through the grieving process. While that process continues, the exercise of writing the letters provided great comfort and healing and we wanted to give others this opportunity. The Letters to Pushkin Project will be featured at the 2010 Taking Action for Animals conference.
Innovators Mix Podcast
Started by Aaron Eden and I, this podcast is a vehicle for us to make more widely accessible great talent and innovative leaders to a wider audience and hopefully allow us to start bringing these techniques / proven models to the organizations that need them. We’re particularly excited about working with groups focused on ecology and behavioral/social innovation & progress but are really passionate about proliferating innovation techniques holistically.
Intuit Financial Management Solutions Web Support
In my capacity as a senior manager/leader of software engineering for Intuit, I lead a team of very talented developers, engineers and designers on creating the support offering for Intuit’s financial management solutions such as QuickBooks and other great Intuit products. This product is built on .NET/ASP.NET, C#, Entity Framework, Java/JSP, ASP.NET MVC, and is integrated with Siebel (CRM), OpenCMS, and is the front door for all support related requests for QuickBooks and other customers.
Intuit Community
I am also excited about leading a team of highly passionate engineers and designers on the continued development of the Intuit Community site. This Ruby on Rails powered offering is present in every running copy of QuickBooks on the desktop as well as receiving tremendous traffic on the web.
Intuit’s Love a Local Business
Launched late last year, this is another project I’m managing engineering efforts for at Intuit. This is a really exciting social application that gives business’ patrons the opportunity to recognize the business as one they truly appreciate. The business owners, simply by receiving “love” nominations, are entered into a contest to win a small business grant from Intuit. It’s been a wildy successful offering and we love seeing folks sharing their love for those hard working small business owners out there. As a long-time small business owner myself, this project is dear to my heart.
